Tricot and Hara Kanako (Music Finds 53)

“Music Finds” is a series with new posts here on the blog each Wednesday. The concept is as follows:
As I listen to a lot of music, I from time to time finds a piece that sticks out, sometimes because it’s quirky, mixed two very unlikely genres, unlikely instruments, or just damn right having an awesome sound. Expect any kind of genre to appear here. These songs is what I will be sharing with you in these posts called “Music Finds”
But really it’s mostly a segment about some of my most played songs!”

TricotBlue

A track that first greets you with soothing characteristics , but then gains tempo and offering a more intense chorus. I can’t really put my finger on exactly what it is that I like so much about this song, but big factors is partly the punctuation by the instruments, and the emotional vocal works.

My other favorite from their EP “Kabuku” is a song that breaths of occasional Plastic Tree-influences in the intro and verse.

Tricot – Setsuyakuka

Hara Kanako

I first found her works by this cover of Rydeen by YMO (a band I’ve previously mentioned in episode #34 “Synthesized loneliness”) that’s performed skillfully. I have a soft spot for seeing versions where one person plays all the instruments (and more – spoiler: trombone!)

Soon after I looked further into her own works published on YouTube, finding a lot of well composed piano driven music. I’ll lead you onto two of my favorites:

はらかなこ – Night Cruising
A melodic and emotional piano piece.

はらかなこ – Dansyari

A more jazzy experience.
