Swing it, Magister’n (Music Finds #39)

“Music Finds” is a series with new posts here on the blog each Wednesday. The concept is as follows:
As I listen to a lot of music, I from time to time finds a piece that sticks out, sometimes because it’s quirky, mixed two very unlikely genres, unlikely instruments, or just damn right having an awesome sound. Expect any kind of genre to appear here. These songs is what I will be sharing with you in these posts called “Music Finds”
But really it’s mostly a segment about some of my most played songs!”

Swing, swing – today is all about electro swing, one of my favorite genres.  It takes the greatness of swing and fuses it with the catchiness of electronic dance music. Today will be a wide mix of how much fusion there is. ;-)
Let’s start with one of the biggest names in this genre – Caravan Palace – which also happens to one of my favorites in this genre. I might have mentioned them before?
Here’s their latest release “Wonderland“, a classic Caravan-groove!

BONUS: This is probably one of their more bizarre videos:

Next is the ever so catchy “Gingerbread Man” by Dirty Honkers from their album “Death by Swing” (love that name). I especially dig the section at 1:31- 1:50 (or 1:23-1:40 if you’re listning to the single version) !

Next up is Swing Republic with “Sing it back“. I really dig her voice, there’s a little hint of worn in it!

Last up is my latest find – Dimie Cat. Oh there’s something with catchy songs sung in French that really gets me grooving. If you have any suggestions of musicians/bands that’s like Carla Bruni or Dimie Cat, hit me up!

Anyhow, here’s “Ping Pong“!

That’s it for this week, what did you think about the songs?
