Music Finds #19 – Phantasmagoria

Music Finds

“Music Finds” is a new series, with new posts here on the blog each Wednesday. The concept is as follows:
As I listen to a lot of music, I from time to time finds a piece that sticks out, sometimes because it’s quirky, mixed two very unlikely genres, unlikely instruments, or just damn right having an awesome sound. Expect any kind of genre to appear here. These songs is what I will be sharing with you in these posts called “Music Finds”
But really it’s mostly a segment about some of my most played songs!”

At first I didn’t think I would post a Music Finds today. There haven’t really been any song to capture me this week.
But as I was going through CD’s this evening, I found one of my old mix-tapes, one containing a song I had totally forgotten about, but which I directly remembered as the disc span.

The melody is like a reminiscence of times lost in thought.

  • Hells bells, Phantasmagoria! They could actually have made it to that list of made-up nostalgia. If I’d remember they existed until this post that is. Kind of sad I forgot it as I like their visual look, I find it inspiring and some of the music is like a statement of important moments captured. Not least this …Lost in thoughts. They are one of the bands I have run into on my own, which gives me personally a sense of empowerment. Rather a flashy mix-tape find to be honest. I feel a bit envious, the nice and polite aww-kind that is.

I can’t erase the idea of, “is this a thought explosion?”. Not least cheered on by the video. I’m sure the sexual path is a thought, but not the one I have. To me it became more an eruption of thoughts, to finally untangle that long term reflection. Maybe even thoughts becoming actual wishes i.e meaning more real? I at least have a tendency to lose myself thinking about things and then suddenly almost like walking into something have a revelation and all becomes real want, need or desire. Well that moment of revelation is the feeling I get from this song.

I think that voice does very well for a thoughtful song and I suspect that voice is one of the things that made me like Phantasmagoria in the first place. I guess that low more whispering kind and not guttural shouting at the world will always tickle my fancy and fascinate me. And I always liked how his voice fades out and is silenced by the music, apparently YouTubers are not agreeing with me on this one. I found it rather poetic especially in their slow tempo songs.

This song is one of those curled up in bed listening to as you miss your love, it has that longing expression that at least I find so right at those moments. When lost…
