Music Finds #13 – Pop and Black Metal

After last weeks nostalgia for no reason, we’re back with some new tracks in this episode of Music Finds!

Music Finds

“Music Finds” is a new series, with new posts here on the blog each Wednesday. The concept is as follows:
As I listen to a lot of music, I from time to time finds a piece that sticks out, sometimes because it’s quirky, mixed two very unlikely genres, unlikely instruments, or just damn right having an awesome sound. Expect any kind of genre to appear here. These songs is what I will be sharing with you in these posts called “Music Finds”
But really it’s mostly a segment about some of my most played songs of the past week.”

I’ll be honest with you; this past week have been pretty low on music consumption, as its mostly been about music creation and rehearsing for the upcoming Avalinity-show. So no, I haven’t found any new music. However, as the intro says: But really it’s mostly a segment about some of my most played songs of the past week.

And that is what I intend on doing, here are my top 5 most played tracks of last week, in no particular order!

5. the GazettESwallowtail on the Death Valley

I haven’t really kept track or listened extensively to their newer releases, but their albums “Stacked Rubbish” and “NIL” are solid and worth checking out if you somehow have missed out the giants that are this band.

This song has a great uptempo-feel, and I must admit that it is the pop-punk drums in the beginning that are about 50% why I like this song.

4. f(x)4 Walls

f(x) is a quite frequent guest when I’m listening to K-pop, among groups like 2NE1, BTS, EXID. This song by f(x) is not my favorite, but this song somehow gets played a lot anyways due to it’s chill and smooth sound.

3. Marina and the DiamondsOh no!

I found her music late last autumn and got stuck with her attitude, use of catchy melodies and great one-liner lyrics.

2. ShiningLåt Oss Ta Allt Ifrån Varandra

Because sometimes you need some good old Black Metal. I don’t always approve of  Kvarforths lyrics, but he has a way of capturing grim feelings and darkness in a very nice way.
(The lyrics probably sound a bit cooler if you don’t understand Swedish though)

1. D’espairsRayLOVE IS DEAD
This song is so catchy..! It was quite different from their other stuff (meaning: lighter sound) but it has a groove that’s hard to beat.  But after all of these years, I still hear

Twice… Erection

If you haven’t heard this band before, and want a light start, this is the song for you. It’s just.. catchy!

That’s it for this week! What did you think about the songs?
